Far South Tour 2014 – Day 9

What a beautiful day we have had. The weather was perfect and the roads were amazing!

We were on the road by 8.30 after Kieren got the Monkey once again because, this time he rode in the van instead of taking his bike to Milford. It was an automatic Monkey charge.

Somehow I ended up leading a number of the riders due to some of them being a little under the weather after a great night in Te Anau.

We stopped at Kingston hoping to catch a glimps of the Kingston Flier, but to no avail. We were told it was in one of the sheds under repair. I did however get a photo of the Kingston Train Station and the start of Lake Wakatipu.

Our next stop was Queenstown. Some of us braved the traffic and went into the city centre for lunch and promptly came back out to have lunch at Arrowtown.

Myself, Richard, Mike and Mark stop at the local bike shop on Glenda Drive and had lunch at their cafe and got some tyres fitted.

After the tyres were fitted, we bid farewell and headed for State Highway 51, the Crown Range Road. What a road!!!!!!

We we got into Wanaka about 3pm and while a few got tidied up at the barbers, I went and got my nails done! ( haha not kidding)

back on the road by 4 and got into Lake Hawea by 4.30. Barry and Dr Bob were having a swin in the Lake, so a few more of us joined them for a refreshing dip.

That splash in the water is Dr Bob.

We are staying at Lake Hawea a Hotel, what a great spot! Lovley rooms, great buffet dinner and the Cheifs game is on the TV.
