Far South Tour 2014 – Day 8

We cruised into today with us all getting up and heading out at different times. A few stayed behind due to the rain starting during breakfast, but the rest of us headed to Milford by 10am.

Kieren came with me in the van, so as it got colder, we turned the heater up, while the lads and ladies got wet. We were stopped at Homer Tunnel and got a few photos of the guys standing around waiting for the light change. We tried to take photos in the tunnel but the flash reflected off the window in the van.

We stopped at Mirror Lakes, not quiet sure why as the Lake is pretty little and the scenery before and after was just as pretty. As we got into Milford we caught up with everyone in the cafe and booked a cruise with Cruise Milford with our Captain, Craig and his first mate Dan. (We will call them Captain Jack Sparrow and Pugwash)

The cruise was awesome! We had about 8 on the boat and Craig was great with the info he gave us. Dan was happy to answer any questions and in turn to help them out Dr Bob held the water bucket under the falls for them.

The cruise took us right out to the Tasman Sea and back up into Milford, we saw seals and lots of great scenery. As we came in Dr Bob was cautioned about his speed on the way back to Te Anau as Steve mentioned he may go over the normal limits.

As we got back on the road to Te Anau we caught up with the buses, so it was a lot slower coming back. So slow I fact that we found a creek that needed our attention.

So tonight we are having curried fish and curried chicken for dinner. Cooked by Lambie, Mark, Mike and Barry. Thanks to them, I’m eating far to well.

Tomorrow we are off to Lake Hawea, riders briefing and a new person to take Monkey for the day…..who will it be????
