Far South Tour 2014 – Day 3
Hokitka Food Festival wasn’t the only thing we did today. Some of us recovered from last nights over indulgence , some of us went for a late breakfast at Katatahi Hotel and Cafe.
We met the owner who fed us well and made no comment on us wanting breakfast at midday.
our leisurely ride took us to the Hokitika Gorge were we went for a bit of a walk after we met one of the local wildlife.
We got back to Hokitika about 2pm and headed for the festival. A Tohu Sav in hand we wondered around until we found a Bourbon and Kieren and Chalky tried some Kangaroo and Crocodile bites. Then we found some Monteiths Cider and Richard and Chalkey a Huhu Grub. Then we had some more Tohu Sav and took a seat in front of one of the stages to listen to a band whose lead was cranking a double base and dreadlocks.
I lasted until about 4 before my over indulgence took over from the night before and I had to come back for a little nap. Some others followed my lead, others stayed and enjoyed more of the festival.
Currently we are having a few drinks out the back of Stumpers Bar and having a evening picnic.
It’s been a great day here with the weather and the company and the sights that we have seen. Man some of the costumes are great…..some not so much. Unfortunately I didn’t take the Ipad with me, so the photos are in my memory and one Deb’s camera.
Mt Cook tomorrow, 520km away so we have a long ride. Hopefully our luck with the weather stays with us and the Police focus on the camper vans and cars going towards Christchurch and not us.
