Day 6 was a rest day/do what you want day in Te Anau. With some taking a bus trip to Milford Sounds due to the road being closed to private vehicles.
A group had booked an afternoon fixed wing flight for around 1hr. Both groups came back with some amazing stories. Some did nothing and walked around town. We went for a ride to Lake Manapouri then we went out as far you are allowed on the Milford road by private vehicles for a look. For a day we were only going to do a 100km ended up being a 250km ride – with virtually no traffic due to the road closure .
we were off to see Burt in Invercargill and get one of the lads bikes repaired we had been nursing a leaking clutch slave cylinder for a few days. We dropped off the DL1000 at Southern Suzuki and headed for E Hayes for a look around. That place never disappoints with some merchandise purchased. After here we went to Bill Richardson’s transport museum, (talk about an immaculate collection) then off to the Classic Motorcycle Mecca For a stroll around. After having a nostalgic look around we headed off to Southern Suzuki to grab the DL that had been finished. If you’re ever in town and need a repair done, see these guys, Awesome.
We called it a day after this, went back to the hotel for dinner and share a few tall yarns from the day.
